Hey there! I'm Tasha, the author of Barnyard Jamboree and creator of Curly Cactus Books! Picture books have always greatly amused me, and yes even though I am full grown, I am still very much a child at heart, and perhaps visually if you would be so kind to squint your eyes very carefully. It is my passionate determination to create picture books that will be cherished, favored, and read on repeat by request. As a reader and author I have an affinity for quirky humor and characters, unexpected and purposeful rhyme that keeps moving a story forward (basically rhyme that does not waste time), carefully crafted strings of words full of onomatopoeia and alliteration, and situational comedy in a story that can also multitask as an educational concept book, bedtime story, or STEM book. I kind of follow wherever my head and heart lead when I write, so my stories tend to have this same overlying funny flavor, but branch off with their own very unique personality. My goal in a nutshell is to make reading fun : )
I have a BA degree in Psychology and spent many years working in mental health and social work, with adults and children. I love people, even though I am an introvert through and through, but this works out great as a writer who spends many hours alone peckity peck pecking on a keyboard!
I am the mother of 4 pretty dad-burn cool and smart individuals named Alijah, Adam, Sydney, and Lilyanne, who are now all grown up and living in states such as Utah, Tennessee, Kentucky and Ohio. And I live on a horse farm in Southern Ohio with my tall cowboy husband Dean, where we train horses, pet cats, and do a lot of farm chores!
My favorites: Color-Green, Food-Pizza, Desert-Carrot Cake, Number-7, Book-"Can I Be Your Dog" by Troy Cummins (I have a soft spot for all stray animals and would take every one home if I could), but truthfully the more I read, the more I have a lot of favorite books!
